MaryBeth, our trainer of the month, has given us some advice to get you going further faster!
Gentle consistency will get you further faster with your lifestyle goals in the beginning. If you can’t squat to the chair the next day because you're sore you may never come back, I want you to come back feeling good ready to move again. You also have to take the time to develop the small, deep muscles of the body. I have not worked with anyone who blew a quad picking up their child, but their back is another story.
Even if you don’t feel like doing anything, DO SOMETHING: restorative yoga, three ab exercises, or just lay on the floor with your kids or pets and move with them.
Please do what you like; I bike because I HATE to run, I do martial arts to work towards a skill not a weight, I do spin classes because the stationary bikes make me crazy. I practice yoga for what my body can do, not what it looks like. I love feeling energized after a yoga class and I can sweat just as much in 70 degrees and can be just as sore the next few days with a yoga class as with anything else I have done.
